Pathlore Announces PHOENIX¨/PREFERENCE¨ Mainframe Release 7.8

COLUMBUS, Ohio - August 31, 2001 - Pathlore Software Corp. today announced that its new PHOENIX® training system and PREFERENCE® online help and reference system has arrived and is now shipping.

"Release 7.8 is a continued demonstration of Pathlore's commitment to ensuring its mainframe customers an ever evolving software product designed to meet their needs", said Rob Perry, Vice President and General Manager of Pathlore's Mainframe Division. "Pathlore is excited about this new release as it incorporates many enhancements requested by our customers", continued Perry.

This new release of the Pathlore Mainframe product line provides customers with increased productivity and new enhancements including:

• New Redesigned Author/Writer Menus. 7.8 features redesigned menus for greater ease-of-use and navigation. All main menu *keywords* can now be displayed and are accessible by cursor position and 'x' selection so the user will not have to remember the keywords and enter them. Authors can now use the additional menus to navigate from the main menu.
• Addition of New System Variable 'Location'. New enhancement to assist the user with the commonly asked "where am I?" question. With 7.8, Authors/Writers can present variable item information directly to the user, on any screen, and define exactly WHERE on the screen the location information is to appear.
