EXPLAIN SOFTWARE COMPATIBILITY WITH CICS

October 23, 2006

Dear Customer,

If you are on CICS TS 2.2 or earlier, then there are no known issues with running Explain's VS COBOL compiled programs.

If you are planning to run Explain under CICS TS 3.1, Explain's VS COBOL compiled programs are no longer supported.  Please contact tech support to determine your options.  Please click here for information concerning how to contact tech support.

Below is information on software compatibility for our Explain software.

Please verify the PCT and PPT definitions for the following:

  1. If you use the TCP Exit module as the interface between your transactions and EXPLAIN and you use the CICS Storage Protection Facility, then you need to define program EXP914 with EXECKEY(CICS) and transaction EXPA with TASKDATAKEY(CICS).

  2. In addition to the above conditions, if you also specify TCTUAKEY=CICS, you need set programs EXP911, EXP912, EXP917 and EXP918 with EXECKEY=CICS and transaction EXPI with TASKDATAKEY(CICS).

  3. Because Explain runs in 24-bit mode only, the TCTUA area for transaction EXPI MUST be allocated BELOW the line. If this allocation is "ANY" or "ABOVE", EXP911 will encounter an S0C4 at offset X'1D0'.

Thanking you,

Sincerely,
