Applicability:  All PHOENIX and PREFERENCE Users

Problem:        If a course or volume has had the maximum number of
                users set to zero (i.e. command "set student/0" or
                "set reader/0" was issued for a course/volume), then
                use of the new "PHOENIX Course Manager" or "PREFERENCE
                Volume Manager" can cause the system to take an S0C4
                ABEND.

Circumvention:  To determine if this course/volume condition exists in
                your environment, run the GSPLISTP utility using the
                control card "LP,ALL" to produce a LIST PROGRAM report
                of all courses/volumes on your system.  Then for all
                non-$gs programs inspect the "NUMBER" column under
                "USERS".  If the program entry is a PHOENIX course or
                PREFERENCE volume and the "NUMBER" value is zero, then
                issue the "set student/1" or "set reader/1" command to
                eliminate this problem.
